Evidence of Hari Har Temple under Mosque

How Muslims planned attack on ASI officials and Vishnu Shankar Jain in Sambal, UP. 24 Nov 2024

Read Time:11 Minute, 25 Second

Friends, famous lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain is fighting to get back many such temples! Which were once temples but later converted into mosques! He had clearly said! That we will fight to get back each and every temple which has been occupied!

And as Vishnu Shankar Jain ji had said, he did the same, on November 19, Vishnu Shankar Jain ji, along with his father Harishankar Jain and six other people, filed a petition in the Sambhal court. These people claimed in the court that this place used to be Shri Hari Har temple earlier, which Babar demolished in 1529 and built a mosque! They appealed to the court that they have enough evidence! Which proves that the Jama Masjid present in Sambhal used to be Harihar temple at one time! The hearing took place in the court at 1:00 pm on the same day, at 4:00 pm the court ordered to survey the mosque! And by 8:00 pm the survey was done, till then everything was fine!

Now on 24th November, the survey team had to go to the mosque again for the remaining survey! On 24th November, when the survey team Vishnu Shankar Jain and the rest of his colleagues were in the mosque, a ruckus started outside. When the DM came to know about the ruckus, he asked the survey team to leave from there immediately, but during this time someone spread a rumour that digging is being done inside the temple. As soon as the rumour spread, the Muslim crowd that had been called before started pelting stones! Even after the police’s repeated refusals, the stone pelting did not stop. The people present in the crowd had sticks, stones, hockey sticks and even guns. To control the crowd, the police also had to fire tear gas shells and the ruckus increased so much!

Five people lost their lives! The Muslim side says that these boys died due to police bullets and the police says that these boys died due to bullets fired by the crowd. The investigation is on to find out what actually happened and also efforts are being made to find out how so many people suddenly gathered there! Out of the five boys who lost their lives, three of them were not from that area. Out of those who were arrested, more than half were from outside. This means that it is clear that someone had already called some people from outside to create a ruckus on 24 November.

The police have also filed an FIR against the local MP and the local MLA’s son in this case! The police say that these people had gone to the mosque a day before the survey and instigated the people! And like the temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, Babar also demolished the temple here and built a mosque. The Hindu side has a lot of evidence to prove this point!

Evidence of Hari Har Temple under the mosque – Historical

Meaning like in the Gyanvapi case, there is so much evidence of the mosque being a temple! That even a blind person will tell that it has been built by demolishing a temple! The same thing seems to be in the case of Sambhal too, the Hindu side says, brother, first of all we are not saying this, but Babur’s biography itself is written in Babur-nama! Babur had written it in Turkish language, later it was translated by Ann Susanna Beverage, it is mentioned on page number 687 of Baburnama that Babur came to Sambhal on 10 July 1529, then he ordered one of his servants named Hindu Beg Kuchan to convert this temple into a mosque. The Hindu side says that even today there is an inscription in the mosque which proves that it was a temple earlier!

The Hindu side gives the second proof from Abul Fazal’s book Ain-e-Akbari. It is written in Ain-e-Akbari that there is a Hari Mandal i.e. Vishnu temple in Sambhal city which belongs to a Brahmin whose 10th incarnation from his descendants will appear at this place. This is an ancient place which is the resting place of Jamal, the successor of Sheikh Faride Shakarganj.

Apart from this, the Hindu side also has a 150-year-old ASI report which proves that there used to be a Harihar temple at the place of the mosque. At that time a report was prepared under the supervision of ASI Director General Alexander Cunningham. This report later came out in the form of a book. It is clearly written in the book that the old city of Sambhal is situated on the Mahishmati river right in the middle of Rohilkhand. In Satyug its name was Sabrat or Sabrat and Sambhale Shavar. In Treta Yug it was called Mahad Giri and in Dwapar Yug it was called Pingla. Later it was named Sambhal or Sambhal Gram in Sanskrit! Professor and historian of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Dr. Vignesh Tyagi has written a book on ancient history named ‘Ek Yug Yugin’.

It also contains details about the Sri Harihar temple of Sambhal. In the book, he has mentioned that when Prithviraj Chauhan was the king here, there was a Harihar temple there from 1178 to 1193. During this time, Prithviraj also gave Sambhal the status of second capital and at the same time this temple was built in Sambhal. Let us tell you that Historian Thomas Carle had visited this mosque in 1874. He also said that the dome of the mosque is made of stone and it seems that it has been made by Hindu carvers. Similarly, British Archaeologist General Alexander Cunningham has also written about the Sambhal mosque that the Jama Masjid of Sambhal was built during the time of Ibrahim Lodi in 157 i.e. from 1517 to 1526.

He has also written that the pillars of Hindu or Jain temples were used in the construction of the mosque. The use of pillars of Jain and Hindu religion in a mosque is amazing. Despite this, people from the Muslim side are saying that there was never a temple here and such things are being said deliberately, but if you check the official documents, you will come to know that the dispute of this place being a mosque or temple is more than 100 years old.

A big media group has published a report about this in which they have written that they have the gadget of 1908 to 1911, that is, the papers of that time in which it is clearly written that there is a temple of Lord Vishnu in Sambhal and it is also written in it that the place of the temple is near today’s mosque. Till now we have told you those things which are documented, which are recorded 400-500 years ago, which have also been written 250 years ago, but if you listen to the Hindu side, then they have a lot of arguments!

And there are also religious beliefs. Hindus believe that Sambhal is a historical city. Its roots are very deep in Hindu scriptures. They believe that Kalki, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, will appear here in the future. It is believed that Kalki is the 10th and last incarnation of Lord Vishnu, whose arrival is certain in Kaliyug. It is believed that with his incarnation, Kaliyug will end and the next era will also begin which will be known as Satyayug!

The Hindu side has such details of this Harihar temple that you will be surprised to hear them. They believe that the Shri Harihar temple of Sambal, which some people now know as Jama Masjid, has a 20 feet wide domed room on the top. This building has two parts. The part on the north side is 500 feet 6 inches long while the part on the south side is just 38 feet 1/2 inch long. The dome of this building is very special because it is completely hollow from top to bottom. The Hindu side also says that such stones are visible inside the mosque on which there were markings of Hindu religion but they were removed or hidden!

I know that listening to all these figures can be boring for many people but I also know that when we are talking about any historical controversy, it is important that we talk with facts so that our words do not sound like mere rhetoric and I have already told you in the last few minutes what the facts are. Now the question is that what should happen in such cases? As per the rules, if one party feels that this place is theirs and is related to our religion! And they have proper evidence to prove this, then they should go to the court as happened during the dispute of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, but this is where the Places of Worship Act brought by the Congress government in the 90s comes in between which says that whatever religious place exists in whatever form after 1948!

Places of Worship Act – Places of Worship Act Sec-4, Sub-Sec 3 Explained

It cannot be tampered with but on the other hand, many legal experts say that it is clearly written in subsection three of section four of the Places of Worship Act that this law does not apply to any ancient and historical place. According to this, if any construction is older than 100 years, then it will be considered an ancient site. Experts say that if the court agrees with this definition of ancient sites, then this law will not be applicable to the temples of Kashi and Mathura. And as far as Harihar temple is concerned, this entire controversy is 100 years old. We still have 100 years old evidence of its legal battle, so no one can say that this matter has been raised suddenly!

That’s why this matter has not been taken up suddenly. The current situation is that friends, the situation in Sambhal has still not become completely normal, therefore the Supreme Court has also put a stay on the hearing of this case. The lower court will not hear this matter till January. The Muslim side has full right to challenge this survey action in the High Court, but the Hindu side also says that we will continue this fight till we get Hari Har Mandir back. Let me tell you, some time back we did a long podcast with Vishnu Shankar Jain ji on this very fight of temples, the link of which is given in the description. If you want, you can watch it again, listen to it and share it with your friends. Now if you ask me what I think about such matters, my thinking is very clear friends that we should not ignore any excess or injustice just because it has been a long time. I ask you, God forbid if someone kidnaps your small child and then after 20-30 years you suddenly find out about your child, will you not go to get your child thinking that many years have passed, it has been a long time, no, just like you cannot leave your child, in the same way how can a devotee leave his God. In Hindu religion, the Gods are considered like children, so how can we leave them on their own, can we not get them their home just because it is a very old matter, we cannot do this.

Does this happen all over the world? Let us talk about Spain. When Spain got freedom from Islamic rule, they reclaimed each and every thing that was taken away from them. I am telling you about the Islamic country Turkey. Let me give you an example, in the year 2020, the President of Turkey converted a museum named Hagia Sophia into a mosque. The museum building was 1700 years old, which was a church and a mosque for 100 years and for the last 10 years it was a museum, but in 2020, citing Islamic history, the President of Turkey converted this museum into a mosque. A month after this, on 22 August 2020, he converted another big church into a mosque. Now what would you call this when the President of Turkey can do this and it can also be considered right, then if Hindus in India think of doing this with their religious places, then how does it become wrong? Let me underline this thing again friends that of course there should be an attempt to get back every such temple which was later captured, but

the attempt to get back the temples should not become the reason for quarrel or hatred. There is a need for both the parties to sit and talk, if they have to go to court, then go there and present evidence there, but all these fights should never become violent. No one’s life should be lost. I also hope that instead of getting angry over this or finding a conspiracy in it, the Muslim side should also listen to such matters with full sympathy. Well, this was my opinion, what do you think about it, whether it is the Jama Masjid of Sambal, the Shahi Eidga dispute of Mathura, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple of Varanasi, the Teele Wali Masjid of Lucknow, the Madina Masjid of Malda or many other controversies like these, what do you think, should the Hindu community fight for all these places and what could be the way of this struggle, whatever you think, whatever your opinion is, whatever your opinion is, please do comment!
