When Vantara is launched ? and Why Vantara is launched?
On Feb 26, 2024, The Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation announced the launch of ‘Vantara’ (Star of the Forest) programme to initiative to focus on the rescue, treatment, care and rehabilitation of injured, abused and threatened animals, both in India and abroad. Vantara is spread over 3000 acres within the Green Belt of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat. ‘Vantara’ aims to be one of the leading contributors to conservation efforts globally. By working with leading experts in animal care and welfare, Vantara has converted a sprawling 3000-acre space into a jungle-like environment that mimics the natural, enriching, lush and verdant habitat for the rescued species to thrive in. The Vantara programme, is first of its kind in India, has been conceptualized and birthed under the passionate leadership of Anant Ambani. Anant Ambani is Director on the boards of RIL and Reliance Foundation. Addressing the press conference, Anant Ambani informed that, “We started the wildlife rescue center building in the peak of COVID. We’ve created a jungle of 600 acres. We created an entire habitat for the elephants and in 2008, we rescued our first elephant. The Greens Zoological Rescue Center started in 2020. We have a total of about 3,000 people working for Green’s Zoological Research and Rescue Center. Out of that, we have approximately 20-30 expats. All the expats are in the role of teachers or professors. We take young graduates who have just finished their veterinary graduation from different backgrounds, like nutritionists.
