A recording released by the federal government appears to include audio of the implosion of the experimental submersible that went missing on its way to the wreck of the Titanic. U.S. Coast Guard officials say a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration passive acoustic recorder located about 900 miles away from the implosion site picked up the sound. The recording became public on Feb. 7. The brief, staticky recording includes a loud noise that sounds somewhat like an underwater thunderclap. It then goes silent for its remaining few seconds.
