Samsung may have accidentally revealed its tri-fold phone design: Here’s what it looks like | Technology News

In the last few months, rumour had it that Samsung is also working on a tri-fold foldable smartphone called the Galaxy G Fold, but we had no solid news about it until now. The South Korean phone manufacturer recently rolled out a One UI 8 beta build, which includes new animations that give us an idea of how Samsung’s upcoming multi-fold device might look like.

According to Android Authority, these animations relate to the NFC chip on the device, but as you can see in the video below, Samsung’s much rumoured tri-fold phone will most likely have three rear panels, with the leftmost panel housing the camera island. As for the middle, the leaked animations suggest that this might house the cover display, while the rightmost panel has no bezels, indicating that it might have a display but instead will act as the back panel.

However, unlike Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, the world’s first tri-fold phone, Samsung’s tri-fold phone may have hinges that fold inwards. This is quite similar to the G-shaped fold prototype, which the company showcased earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress.

An animation also suggests that the device will have two hinges of different sizes, with the left side folding inwards while the right side sandwiching on the top. In another animation, we can see that Samsung might warn users not to fold the right panel first, as the camera island might prevent the device from folding flat and damage the device.

According to a post on X by the known tipster Jukan Choi, Samsung will reportedly start mass production of its tri-fold phones in September, with the product making its way to the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. Like the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, Samsung’s much-anticipated tri-fold phone is said to cross the $3,000 mark. However, we currently don’t have more details about what kind of hardware Samsung will offer on its first-ever multi-fold phone.
