Samsung on Tuesday, April 29, announced that it is bringing AI assistant activation through the side button on Galaxy A series. The popular feature spotted on Samsung’s Galaxy S series will now be accessible to a wider user base. The latest move aligns with the South Korean smartphone giant’s vision of democratising AI experiences through its devices.

The new update will allow users to enjoy smarter AI experiences, such as the ability to launch Gemini, Google’s AI-powered assistant, by simply pressing and holding the side button. The company has introduced Awesome Intelligence on the Galaxy A series that comprises the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. The company claims that the upcoming update will make it easier for even more Galaxy A users to accomplish everyday tasks more efficiently with instant access to Gemini via the side button.

Samsung and Google have been working together to deliver seamless, intuitive and meaningful AI experiences, making the latest technology more accessible for more users,” said Jay Kim, executive vice president and head of the customer experience office, mobile experience business at Samsung Electronics. “We’re excited that Galaxy A series users will now be able to activate Gemini faster and more naturally through a simple gesture that brings intelligent support into the flow of daily tasks,” he added.

The Galaxy A series, which is known for its performance and value, now offers a smarter mobile experience owing to the latest update. Be it checking schedules, finding nearby restaurants or getting recommendations for birthday gifts using voice commands, Google’s Gemini makes it all easier. The AI assistant is also capable of carrying out tasks across apps with just a single command, such as finding a dinner spot on Google Maps and sending an address to a friend through messages via Samsung, Google and other select third-party apps.

Instant access to Gemini can help one in their day-to-day activities. From cooking to helping with presentation, simple voice commands can do wonders.
