Lava fountain height soars in latest episode of Hawaii volcano eruption

Read Time:31 Second

A tall fountain of lava spewed from a volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island again. Webcam video from Wednesday showed vigorous streams of bright red molten rock in the latest episode of an on-and-off eruption. Lava fountains reached 600 feet. Scientists later said the current episode was over. The eruption began Dec. 23 in a crater at the summit of Kilauea in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This was the eruption’s 12th episode. Scientists say it began with sporadic, small flows. No residential areas have been threatened by lava. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes.
