Apple is all set to launch its iPhone 17 series smartphones and other devices on September 9 at Apple Park in California’s Cupertino. “Awe-dropping,” said Apple’s invitation for the event. Online streaming of the launch will commence at 10:00 am Pacific Time (10:30 PM IST).

As in previous years, Apple is expected to introduce four new iPhone models– the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a brand new iPhone 17 Air. iPhone 17 will probably look almost identical to the previous year’s model, with only minor internal hardware updates. However, the flagship Pro models might see notable modifications, especially in terms of the cameras.

Here is all that we know about the iPhone 17 Pro Max:

The iPhone 17 Pro Max might feature a 6.9-inch XDR OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Apple A19 Pro chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. Notably, Apple is increasing the RAM in the Pro models by 4GB.

Test units of the iPhone 17 Pro, allegedly being evaluated in the San Francisco area, hint at a new camera feature. The device included a third camera control positioned near the upper edge. This placement suggests it may be a scroll surface with capacitive touch, resting beneath the left index finger. This allows users to hold the iPhone in landscape mode using the right index finger to access the primary Camera Control.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a triple-lens back camera, comprising a 48MP primary sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide angle, and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens, replacing the 12MP rear camera from the previous model. Apple is also upgrading the front camera to 24MP for better selfies and video chats.

A dynamic island with a front-facing camera and slim front bezels will be part of the Pro series. It will also feature an end-to-end, rectangular camera bump with three sensors and a flash at the back. The Apple logo will be repositioned significantly lower on the device.

Recent sources suggest that reverse wireless charging, enabling the phone to wirelessly charge other Apple accessories, will likely debut with the iPhone 17 Pro models. This could be the first time Apple includes this feature in their iPhones. Rumour has it that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature the largest battery ever seen in an iPhone, at 5,500mAh, and will support 25W MagSafe and 15W Qi2 wireless charging.

According to a recent Bsky source, the iPhone 17 Pro series will be available in vibrant orange, white, dark blue, and black options. The repositioned Apple logo on the back of the device is also visible in leaked images.
