Emergency crews deployed on Santorini as an earthquake swarm worries Greek experts

Read Time:29 Second

Santorini, the popular Greek holiday island, is taking emergency measures in response to intense seismic activity. More than 200 undersea earthquakes have been recorded in three days. Authorities closed schools and deployed emergency crews Monday as precautionary measures on Santorini and neighboring islands. The quakes have been as strong as magnitude 4.7. Scientists are sure they aren’t connected to Santorini’s dormant volcano but have warned of potential stronger events. Emergency preparations include Fire Service teams with sniffer dogs, evacuation gathering points, and an order for hotels to drain their swimming pools.
