Apple is gearing up for the iPhone 17 series launch at its “Awe Dropping” event on September 9. And while not much is officially known about the upcoming smartphones, in the last few months, several leaks and rumours have hinted that the much-anticipated smartphones will have faster chipsets, bigger batteries, and better cameras.

If you are thinking of upgrading to the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, or the iPhone 17 Pro Max – from camera to design, here’s everything we know so far about the next generation iPhones.

Design

The biggest change coming to the iPhone 17 series is the design. While the vanilla iPhone 17 is expected to have the same design as its predecessor, tipsters and dummy cases of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max suggest Apple is going with a huge rectangular camera island this time.

Display

Like last year, the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro will have a 6.3-inch XDR OLED screen, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to get the same 6.9-inch XDR OLED screen. However, the vanilla iPhone 17 will be getting a huge upgrade. Rumour has it that Apple is finally adding ProMotion support to the iPhone 17, but it is still unclear if it will get Always-on Display.

Performance

The iPhone 17 is said to be powered by Apple’s in-house A19 chip, whereas the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max may be getting the A19 Pro chip. While performance figures for the upcoming chips aren’t out yet, the upgrade should bring a modest performance bump.

Camera

The vanilla iPhone 17 will more or less have the same camera setup as last year – a 48MP primary sensor and a 12MP ultrawide. But rumour has it that Apple is replacing the 12MP telephoto shooter and upgrading to a 48MP sensor on the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Battery

Apple never reveals the exact battery capacity of its smartphones, but the more power-efficient chipset in combination with a bigger battery should help the iPhone 17 series last longer than its predecessors. As for the charging speed, the iPhone 17 series is expected to charge at the same time as the current generation, which means the maximum charging speed should be approximately 25W.
