Amazon has expanded its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, to Mumbai, adding to its existing presence in Bengaluru and Delhi. The brand promises deliveries in just 10 minutes, and the service allows customers to shop for an array of items.
To power this rapid delivery model, Amazon has already set up over 100 centres across the three cities and plans to scale up with hundreds more by year-end. Amazon Now claims that they work through small, tech-enabled fulfilment centres set up close to their customer neighbourhoods to make ultra-fast deliveries possible. These centres keep everyday essentials in stock based on local demand, helping orders get processed quickly and safely. By combining advanced systems with nearby delivery points, Amazon ensures a smooth shopping experience, getting products to customers within minutes.
With the rolling out of this feature, here is what Samir Kumar, VP and country manager, Amazon India, said “We launched Amazon Now in Bengaluru earlier this year, delivering essentials in just 10 minutes. The response has exceeded our most optimistic expectations, with daily orders growing at 25 per cent month over month and Prime members tripling their shopping frequency after they begin using Amazon Now. Driven by this success, we’ve expanded to over 100 micro-fulfilment centres and plan to add hundreds more across Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. With our robust operations infrastructure, we’re enabling faster, more convenient shopping across a vast selection as we head into the festive season – delivering essentials in minutes, groceries and over 40,000 items within hours, and millions more the same or next day.”
Amazon’ also promises to bring a wide range of daily essentials from sellers while maintaining the company’s focus. The Amazon Now service is being gradually rolled out to more neighbourhoods across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai, and they plan to launch their platform in additional cities. Users can check eligibility through the Amazon App, looking for the 10 mins icon on the top banner.
