As the investigation is underway into the ghastly terrorist attack that happened in New Orleans city of United States on Wednesday, federal authorities have found incriminating materials in the slain attacker’s trailer home in North Houston. The authorities reportedly found bomb-making material in his bedroom along with a Quran opened at verse 9:111 which reads, “They fight in Allah’s cause, and slay and are slain; a promise binding…”. ,
The attacker, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, had rammed a pickup truck into a crowd of people celebrating new year, taking lives of around 15 people and leaving around 30 people injured. Jabbar was killed in an exchange of fire with the police after carrying out the attack.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted in the ice coolers at the French Quarter. The attacker was not acting alone as the surveillance footage shows three men and a woman planting those IEDs. He was carrying the remote detonator to the IEDs in his vehicle. The authorities have also recovered a handgun, AR-style rifle guns and multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) including pipe bombs from his car.
Jabbar served a decade with the US Army Staff and was deployed in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2019. He left the active duty in 2015 and the reserves in 2020. Before carrying out the attack, he posted some videos online declaring his allegiance to ISIS. In the videos, he threatened to kill his own family.
The Quran in his room was opened to verse 9:111 which reads, “They fight in Allah’s cause, and slay and are slain; a promise binding…”.
