Monster Hunter Wilds is about to get even bigger. Capcom’s latest entry in the ARPG series launched to immediate success, peaking at 1.3 million concurrents on Steam and reaching eight million copies sold, making it the fastest selling title in the company’s history. Since then, we’ve had title update 1, which brought back Mizutsune, introduced the Grand Hub, and an array of new activities and items to keep us busy. Now, with update 1.011 and the Street Fighter 6 collaboration around the corner, MH Wilds director Yuya Tokuda pens a new community letter detailing title update 2 and beyond.
Tokuda’s letter is filled with new details, but by far the most interesting is talk of a new system coming to the RPG in a future update. With new tempered monsters (eight-star) arriving in version 1.011 on Wednesday May 28, Monster Hunter Wilds is set to get even tougher. But Tokuda says harder hunts are on the way, too, which means even more rewards and equipment.
“As I mentioned in the monsters section, even stronger monsters are planned to be added in future updates. To complement this, a new system will be added where rewards and equipment that allow you to diversify your skill builds can be earned. Stay tuned to official channels for more news.”
As for right now, the new eight-star monsters include Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad, offering more than just Arkveld as a true challenge. All of these monsters have adjustments like increased health, wounding resistance, and tweaks to multiplayer scaling to make the game even harder, so you’ll want to be prepared.
Capcom is also stepping up its game with title update 2, as Tokuda teases even more monsters who are eight-star, alongside a new Arch-tempered beast.

You can also expect some incredible quality-of-life improvements with version 1.011 on May 28. You’ll be able to rest in the Grand Hub and Suja, for one, which will restore all pop-up camps in the game. In even bigger news, the annoying full-pouch UI windows are going away. Instead, if your pouch is full and you grab another item while exploring, it’ll now just be sent straight to the item box. As for title update 2, we can also expect “improved Seikret usability, the ability to view skill details in various screens with a single button press, and more.”
As for the SF6 crossover on May 28, it’s going to completely change how you play. When you have either the new Akuma full armor or layered armor equipped, three new items will be added to your item bar: Assisted Combo: Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken. These three items turn you into a brawler, as you’ll need to use your fists to take out monsters while hunting. You even fill up a Drive Gauge, which converts to the Drive Impact when full for an incredibly powerful attack.
Capcom has also made some balance changes to the Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun in version 1.011, with some adjusted upwards and others downwards. That’s not all, though, as Tokuda explains how the Hammer is being changed even more in TU2.
“The Hammer is planned to receive various improvements in title update 2 in addition to the adjustments made in this update, including the addition of offset effects for certain attacks and the addition of a follow-up attack upon a successful offset,” Tokuda writes. “Other weapons will also receive changes in title update 2, such as the Dual Blades.”
As for stability issues on PC, you can expect some improvements in version 1.011 as well. VRAM usage and crashes due to insufficient VRAM are being optimized by Capcom, while enhanced texture streaming is coming to the Steam version in a future update.
With so much coming to MH Wilds between version 1.011 and TU2, Tokuda’s letter has arrived at exactly the right time.
