I didn’t know there was a Mini Motorways community. As in, a community of players so dedicated enough to a niche, minimalist road strategy game that their calls for changes are heard and implemented by the developers. But there is, and the developers have responded. Mini Motorways has finally added a Creative Mode, allowing players to customize their cities and build them from the ground up. I’ll be honest, I’ve never played this game before, but right now I’m sorely tempted to try it, especially if it lives up to its reviews.
Creative Mode was a staple in Mini Motorways‘ predecessor, Mini Metro, and fans were surprised when it didn’t reappear in the car-based traffic strategy game. However, it now joins Classic, Endless, and Expert modes to complete the quadrumvirate of city building game modes. Better late than never, eh?

Mini Motorways is a minimalist take on the traffic management genre, offering a simplified aesthetic with just as much depth as any of its rivals. Don’t let the two-tone cars deceive you, you can still block a motorway with a devastating traffic jam at rush hour.
Before now, players have had to settle for routing vehicles through dynamic cities that grow and change with each new road laid. You can also manage traffic in numerous IRL cities, such as Tokyo, Moscow, or Dar es Salaam. It doesn’t sound too bad, but we always want more, don’t we?
Creative Mode adds a full city builder, so you can customize your level to your heart’s content. Switch up the color palette, move houses across the street, and tunnel through mountains to create your own vision of a metropolis. Plant a verdant megalopolis or create a concrete jungle, the choice is now yours.
Mini Motorways is currently rated Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam, with nearly 15,000 reviews. If you can’t trust 96% of people, who can you trust?
You can download Mini Motorways on Steam for $9.99 / £7.19. Find it here.
