Killing Floor 3 is right around the corner, and you can put yourself down to try it right now. Developer Tripwire Interactive is holding a KF3 stress test for a very limited time, as the team aims to plug any holes before launch. After an incredibly rocky beta and delay, Tripwire has been massively improving the experience, so hopefully this new test fares much better.
Earlier this year, Tripwire Interactive held a beta test for Killing Floor 3. This version of the game didn’t go down well with players, though, as they criticized the UI, animations, frame rates, freezing, and netcode-based stuttering. The first two Killing Floor games are some of the most beloved and best zombie games around, so it’s safe to say this was quite the letdown.
As a result, Tripwire told players it was building a “detailed action plan” for the game, which would help the team improve it before the Killing Floor 3 release date. Then, the studio delayed the game indefinitely, before settling on a new launch date that’s now right around the corner.

“With the full support of our parent company Embracer Group, we’re working together on a timeline to address many of the common issues players had during the beta, including performance/stability, UI/UX, lighting, and weapon feel,” Tripwire wrote when it delayed the game.
Now, the developer confirms it’s going to hold a very brief Killing Floor 3 stress test ahead of launch. “For this Multiplayer Stress test, we ask the participants not to stream or record. This test is designed to help our team and partners ensure that the multiplayer environment stays as stable as possible at launch. We hope to open this test to other platforms next week, with more details to come.”
Once the stress test and release have been and gone, though, Tripwire says it has plenty of post-launch plans. For one, the team will continue implementing feedback it couldn’t get in for day one. This includes making sure Nightfall Specialists (characters) are able to pick any perk, enhanced third-person animations for movement and weapons, and making text work for in-server communication.
The Killing Floor 3 stress test is running on Sunday July 13 at two separate times. The first is for two hours from 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, while the second also lasts two hours and runs from 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm BST.
