What is the Zelda Notes app?

The Zelda notes app is a game-specific service exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You can download the free Nintendo Switch app on your phone to access Zelda Notes.

How do I use the Zelda Notes app?

To use the Zelda Notes app, you need the Switch 2 version of Breath of the Wild and/or Tears of the Kingdom. You can either purchase the Switch 2 versions in full or use the upgrades you get from owning a copy of the original Switch versions and having a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

From there, you need to download the Nintendo Switch app on your smartphone through either Google Play or the Apple Store. Once you have it installed, you can log in using your Nintendo Profile. Finally, you need to launch either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom on your Nintendo Switch 2 while logged into your Nintendo Account and connected to the internet. After this, you will see Zelda Notes in the Nintendo Switch App’s ‘Game-Specific Services’ section.

Note that when you first get Zelda Notes, it won’t work unless you open it while you also have the game open. Luckily, this is only required the first time you use it – from that point on, you’ll be able to use the app without the game being open.

Once you’ve linked the games to the app, you can use it independently or in tandem with your Switch, so you can get real-time help for finding those pesky koroks and grab your daily bonuses with ease.

What are the BOTW Zelda Notes app features?

Here are the different features you can use in the Zelda Notes app:

• Navigation – an interactive map that you can use to locate koroks, shrines, and more. There’s even voice guidance to act like a Hyrule sat-nav
• Voice memories – allows you to unlock a voice memory of different characters when you visit certain areas, giving you a little more backstory
• Item sharing – allows you to share items you find or make using QR codes
• Photo studio – allows you to edit photos you snap in-game and share them using QR codes
• Global play data – allows you to see what other players are up to, how many enemies they’ve taken down, and much more
• My play data – records just your data and rewards you with medals for completing certain tasks.
• Daily bonus – every day, you can receive an in-game effect from this bonus, which can include weapon repair, free items, and refilling hearts. Neat!
• Amiibo – any amiibo you use shows up in this part of the app. Scan one five times, and you may get a bonus

What’s in the TOTK Zelda Notes app?

The Tears of the Kingdom Notes app contains all of the same features as the BOTW Notes app, plus an Autobuild Sharing option. Here, you can use QR codes to share your fantastical creations with the world. That korok slingshot you made? Shared. The tiny flying machine? Also shared.
