Grab a free Steam key for tense, gothic co-op game Eyes of Hellfire

I always appreciate co-op games that have ways for your friends to join you without everyone involved having to buy a separate copy. Remnant 2 lets you jump into DLC you don’t own if the host has it, simply locking any gear you collect until you buy access. It Takes Two and Split Fiction go one step further, allowing the second player to jump in completely for free with their ‘friend’s pass’ feature. New gothic horror experience Eyes of Hellfire is the latest to offer such a deal, and to get you over the starting line we’ve got dozens of free Steam keys to give away for the game’s imminent launch.

Eyes of Hellfire launches on Wednesday August 27, and it’s an “atmospheric gothic horror experience” that’s designed to be played as a co-op game with between two and five people. It’s based on Irish legends around an old secret society known as the Hellfire Club, and sees you and your fellow members trapped within its headquarters in a former hunting lodge. Unfortunately, in your pursuit of the immoral and supernatural, you’ve each found yourself lumbered with a potentially fatal curse. To make matters worse, the lodge appears to be haunted.

Each person plays a specific character, each coming with specific strengths, weaknesses, and potential goals. Dread and suspicion are rife at every turn; this is a horror game at heart, after all. While you’re all working towards your common goal of overturning the mystery of the lodge and saving your souls, each player also has hidden solo objectives, and you must succeed in both aspects to win. Proximity voice chat means you can coordinate a plot in secret, but be careful about who might be listening nearby.

You’ll start the adventure with a hand of cards that defines your possible actions each turn, with more such possibilities available to be discovered as you search the lodge. Be careful, however; not only will your companions be considering their own motives, but your choices and influences will change what you see, and it’s up to you to decide how much of it is real.

Then you can invite them into your game, with the ability to play the full first scenario that’s available on day one together. If they like it, they can buy a copy to unlock other features such as the character progression, additional card unlocks, and customization options.

Eyes of Hellfire launches Wednesday August 27 on Steam in early access. You can buy a copy here if you miss out on the giveaway, or simply can’t wait.
