Genshin Impact saurians guide

Read Time:3 Minute, 16 Second

Turns out Natlan’s dragons aren’t as big and scary as we thought – they’re actually Genshin Impact saurians, which are lizard-like creatures that hang around with humans in each tribe. Travelers can interact with points to make use of saurian abilities like gliding across the water and scaling the side of steep cliffs.

If you want to get some Natlan characters to go with your saurians, grab these Genshin Impact codes and check the current Genshin Impact banner. Or, see what’s happening in the next Genshin Impact update as we explore new areas.

Here’s everything in our Genshin Impact saurian guide:

What are Genshin Impact’s saurians?

Saurians are lizard-like animals that dwell in Natlan, each type preferring different environments and hanging around with different tribes. They are the dragons of Natlan – though that may not be what we expected, given how people in Teyvat talked about them.

Over the years, those in Natlan have worked with the saurians to create a synergistic relationship, allowing them to coexist peacefully and see each other as family. Each tribe Travelers meet has their own preferred breed of saurian – the People of the Springs, for instance, bond well with the water-dwelling Koholasaurs, while the Scions of the Canopy prefer the sprightly Yumkasaurus.

The saurians usually look like lizards or dinosaur sort of creatures, though they can be bird-like as well. They’re based on the real-life taxonomic sub-order ‘Sauria’, which includes birds, crocodiles, and snakes among other species.

What are the different Genshin Impact saurian types?

Tepetlisaur

These burrowing saurians hang around with members of the Children of Echoes tribe, such as Genshin Impact’s Kachina, and help them out with the power of geo. They can move swiftly underground as well as climb the side of mountains.

Koholasaurus

The Koholasaurus is a water-loving being that can swim on water and liquid phlogiston. It’s the only saurian to be able to do so. They live with the Meztli, known as the People of the Springs – like Genshin Impact’s Mualani.

The green Yumkasaurus can use its long tongue to grab onto fruits and then spit them out at enemies. It can also grab onto zipline points and zoom around, similar to Sumeru’s movement mechanic. The Scions of the Canopy (like Genshin Impact’s Kinich) have formed a good relationship with these saurians.

In the above trailer, you see a red, flying creature. This is a Qucusaur. While the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant is a formidable boss that the Traveler must face, there are smaller, much less rowdy versions that hang around with the Flower Feather Clan, including Genshin Impact’s Chasca.

These bat-like critters work with the Masters of the Night Wind tribe and gift their ability to enter the Spiritspeaker state to them. Genshin Impact’s Ororon can use this to read sigils in Natlan.

Found around the Collective of Plenty tribe, Tatankasaurus are very helpful for overworld puzzles, and busting rocks to get some characters’ ascention materials. They can also run pretty fast, getting you from A to B in record time.

How do I use Genshin Impact’s saurians?

In the overworld, the Traveler can interact with certain markers to use saurian abilities, such as using a Tepetlisaur to scale a cliff face or dive underground.

This lets you use the ‘indwelling’ mechanic where you turn into the saurian to make use of their specific abilities. This indwelling isn’t limited, as you can wander around as a saurian for quite a while. Plus, it’s needed to solve overworld puzzles every so often or to access treasure chests.

So, are you ready to meet these friendly critters? We’re sure characters like Genshin Impact’s Tighnari, Genshin Impact’s Neuvillette, and Genshin Impact’s Fischl would love to meet them.
