When a game has been around for as long as Dead by Daylight has, new changes that serve to freshen up its play are always welcome. The multiplayer horror game, which stands out in a genre that includes The Outlast Trials, GTFO, and R.E.P.O, has just introduced its latest shake-up in the form of today’s Steady Pulse update, which looks to transform the healing meta with a new support-focused survivor called Orela Rose.
Dead by Daylight‘s Steady Pulse update sees Orela, an EMT, added to the horror game along with the promised overhaul to The Rift that reworks Challenges as Quests and adds in new material through the Overgrowth update.
As an EMT, Orela is designed to support other survivors with healing-based skills. Her character perks include Do No Harm, which sees Orela’s player increase their healing speed and great skill checks whenever they heal another survivor, with the increase governed by how many hook states the healed player has. The Duty of Care perk, meanwhile, increases nearby survivor haste when Orela takes a protection hit while healthy. Lastly, Rapid Response gives Orela the exhausted status after fast exiting a locker, but shows the killer’s aura while the status persists.
As these perks make clear, Orela is capable of heavily influencing the survivability of a group as a powerful support character, and should represent a pretty significant change to the game while in play.
