Some universities are freezing hiring as Trump threatens federal funding

Read Time:30 Second

Universities across the U.S. have announced hiring freezes due to the risk of federal funding cuts under President Donald Trump’s administration. Public and private institutions, from Harvard to the University of Washington, are among those pausing hiring. University leaders have cited financial uncertainties due to new federal policies. The Trump administration’s cuts to grants from the National Institutes of Health has jeopardized hundreds of millions in federal funding for research universities. The administration also recently cancelled $400 million in grant and contract funds for Columbia University over allegations that it failed to squelch antisemitism on campus.
