Hawaii volcano again puts tall lava fountains on display in latest eruption episode

Read Time:24 Second

An erupting Hawaii volcano is shooting fountains of lava hundreds of feet into the sky. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory says Kilauea’s fountains reached heights of 400 to 500 feet Tuesday. This marks the 13th episode of on-again, off-again lava activity of the Big Island volcano. The eruption began on Dec. 23. A webcam showed vigorous fountains of bright-red molten rock and billowing smoke midmorning Tuesday. No residential areas have been threatened by the eruption.
