How to get the Mario Kart World unlockables

Read Time:3 Minute, 17 Second

There are many Mario Kart World unlockables across numerous categories, including characters, karts, and costumes. While the game is a lot of fun on its own, no one can deny how important it is to look the part – your costume and kart should go together seamlessly. Think Pirate King Boo in a boat. Doesn’t that sound great? Of course it does, so allow us to explain how you can get all MKW unlockables.

Admittedly, looking the part only does so much; you also need to know how to handle the Mario Kart World tracks, so we recommend you check out our guide to get the lowdown on which courses belong to each cup. Once you have enough practice and feel confident, we can even tell you how to unlock Mario Kart World’s Rainbow Road course.

Here’s what you need to know about getting the Mario Kart World unlockables:

How to unlock characters in Mario Kart World

There are two ways to unlock the MKW characters. The first is through Kamek, Bowser’s honorary adoptive mother. One of the new Mario Kart World items, Kamek, transforms you into a different character, and you permanently unlock whichever character you turn into. Such racers include Fish Bone and Peepa.

The second way to unlock new Mario Kart characters is by competing in the Grand Prix cups. When you complete each of these tournaments for the first time, you unlock a new Mario Kart World character. It doesn’t even matter what difficulty you’re on or even if you win; as long as you see the cup through to the end, you get a new racer. Rosalina, King Boo, and Donkey Kong are among the characters you unlock this way.

How to unlock costumes in Mario Kart World

You can unlock costumes in Mario Kart World by picking up the Dash Food item, which you can find near Yoshi’s Diners in both free roam and races. There are some fantastic Mario Kart World costumes out there, with Vampire Waluigi, Aristocrat King Boo, and Biker Bowser being among the best.

As for which costumes you unlock, it depends on where you are and what food you eat. For instance, if you pay a visit to Boo Cinema in free roam, you can find a Yoshi’s Diner that gives you food that turns your character into something horror-related (if they have a horror-related costume, that is). So, if you want the aforementioned Vampire Waluigi, that’s the place to be.

How to unlock karts in Mario Kart World

Unlocking karts in Mario Kart World is as simple as picking up coins. For every 100 coins you get, you unlock a new Mario Kart World kart. It doesn’t matter where you get them from, either, so you’ll unlock karts at a fast pace by merely playing your favorite game modes.

How to unlock stickers in Mario Kart World

Stickers are pretty easy to unlock, as there are numerous ways to get them. The first is to enjoy some free roam and tackle any of the P Switch challenges that you come across; successfully finishing one rewards you with a sticker. Sticking with free roam, the next thing you need to look out for is the huge gold Peach coins, which also offer a sticker as a prize for finding them.

While exploring the world, you should also activate any hidden panels you find (yellow panels with a huge ‘?’ on them), as these offer another way to pick up those precious stickers. Finally, simply driving around can earn you some stickers, as you receive them for covering a certain distance. They are also rewards for other milestones, such as finding a specific number of collectibles.
