What is Fortnite OG?

Fortnite OG is now a permanent addition to Fortnite, following its return on December 6, 2024. It previously made an appearance in 2023, beginning with Season Five and ending with Season X, taking long-time players on a nostalgia trip and introducing newer fans to how the game used to look.

As well as changing up the map, the Fortnite OG season brought back a bunch of old weapons, vehicles, and items to complete the experience. There was even a Battle Pass for this event, even though it was a bit shorter than your average Fortnite season.

Can I play Fortnite OG now?

You can play Fortnite OG whenever you like it, as it is now a game mode set to stay in Fortnite going forward.

Last year’s Fortnite’s OG season ran from November 3 to December 2, 2023. Each week the map changed to revisit a different era of Chapter One in this order:

• November 3 – 9: Season Five
• November 9 – 16: Season Six
• November 16 – 23: Seasons Seven and Eight
• November 23 – December 2: Seasons Nine and X

When did Fortnite OG return?

Fortnite OG returned on December 6, 2024. It was confirmed by Epic Games in a social media post at the end of 2023 that Fortnite OG would be be back. It said that there is “so much so that we’d like to bring it back… *opens 2024 roadmap doc* In the meantime, see you on the Battle Bus.” Since Fortnite OG launched, Epic Games has filled the void with Fortnite Reload, a mode that resurrects Tilted Towers in a mode similar to Resurgence playlists from Call of Duty: Warzone mobile.
