How to join the Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered

Read Time:3 Minute, 35 Second

How do you join the Thieves Guild? The wanted posters are one of the first things you’ll notice as you set foot in the Imperial City. You would think that there were plenty of nefarious individuals in such a place like this, but these all seem to be pointing to one man. At least, they think it’s a man. The Gray Fox is a person of some mystery, and they’re the head of the equally mysterious Thieves Guild.

The guilds in Oblivion Remastered are wonderful things. They allow you to delve deep into an aspect of your character, whether that be stealing, fighting, magic, or whatever it is you wish to specialize in. The Thieves Guild is a particularly mysterious endeavor, as it doesn’t have a place on the map, and nobody seems to know about it. Here’s how to join the Thieves Guild in the remade RPG so you can make a ton of Oblivion gold and take part in some of the most interesting Oblivion Remastered quests going.

How to join the Thieves Guild

The first step to joining the Thieves Guild is to know of its existence. The simplest way to do this is to read one of the many wanted posters around the Imperial City. Reading one of these will add the Gray Fox conversation topic as an option when you speak to anyone.

From what information you can gather from the citizens of the Imperial City, we gather that the Gray Fox is a dangerous individual who has a network of beggar spies working for him. With this information on hand, you can ask a beggar about the Gray Fox – if they like you enough, they’ll give you some important information about where the Thieves Guild meets at night.

“To learn more about the Gray Fox, go to the Garden of Dareloth at midnight. Look in the Waterfront District of the Imperial City.”

The Garden of Dareloth is the small patch of grass behind the abandoned shack in the Waterfront District. If you go there at midnight, you’ll see three shady individuals huddled around a burning torch. Talk to Arnand Christophe – the man in the center of the three – who will allow you to begin the Thieves Guild test.

How to find Amantius Allectus’ Diary

The Thieves Guild test is a simple one: steal the diary of Amantius Allectus. You have competition for this test, as the two budding thieves flanking Arnand are also interested in joining, and will be aiming to steal the diary before you.

You can speak to one of the beggars in the Waterfront District, and if they like you enough, they will tell you that Amantius Allectus’ Diary is in the Temple District on the far east side. Armed with this knowledge, head to the Temple District as fast as you can, break into Amantius’ house, and take the diary.

Hand Amantius Allectus’ Diary to Arnand the following night, and you’ll be inducted into the Thieves Guild. You’re given access to a fence to whom you can sell your stolen goods, and once you’ve built a reputation for yourself, you’ll be given special jobs.

Where does Methredhel put Amantius Allectus’ Diary?

While it is possible to steal the diary before your competitors, Methredhel is exceptionally quick on the scene, and by the looks of it, already has the key to Amantuis’ house on her person. If she takes the diary before you have a chance, your only recourse is to steal it from her before she can complete the challenge.

Methredhel hides the diary in a chest in her house. Methredhel’s house is located in the Waterfront District, not far from the abandoned shack where the original meeting took place. Simply wait until she’s asleep, sneak in, and steal the diary.

Now that you know how to get into the Oblivion Remastered Thieves Guild, you can start making a name for yourself in the underworld. Make sure you read up on Oblivion Remastered lockpicking before you attempt to deprive a person of their worldly possessions, and here’s how to get a house in Oblivion so you can store all of your ill-gotten gains.
