Turn based RPG Clair Obscur Expedition 33 gets a hefty discount before launch

If you’ve been counting down the days until you can begin exploring its gorgeous fantasy world, but haven’t secured your pre-order yet, Fanatical is offering it at a lower price than we’ve seen from any other retailer. Right now, you can get 20% off the Standard and Deluxe Edition pre-orders of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

If you’re a fan of turn-based RPGs, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is worth picking up. Set in a surreal world inspired by Belle Époque France, this Final Fantasy-esque adventure RPG sees you leading the members of Expedition 33 on a mission to stop The Paintress, a mysterious being who, every year, awakens and paints a number on a giant monolith. Those of the age painted on the monolith disappear, with the number decreasing by one each year. With the painting of the number 33 imminent, you and the members of Expedition 33 must stop The Paintress and prevent the cycle of death from continuing.

It’s not just the story that offers something a bit different. Clair Obscur Expedition 33’s hauntingly beautiful, surrealistic world begs to be explored, and its blending of turn-based combat with real-time mechanics, which allow you to parry, dodge, and more, aims to make the action more immersive. In PCGameN’s Clair Obscur Expedition 33 preview, Ken Allsop said the RPG “takes active combat prompts to their logical extreme,” which “opens up the potential for you to tackle its threats at levels far beyond what might ordinarily be possible.” So, if you’re looking for a turn-based RPG with a twist, this is likely right up your street.

The Deluxe Edition pre-order, however, offers the best value, as it slashes the usual $59.99 / £49.99 price to $47.99 / £39.99 – roughly the same price as the usual Standard Edition price.
